After much speculation and rumors that it will reopen in December for the release of 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens', The Grand Theater 16 on Johnston Street is set to reopen it's doors on Thursday, November 19th.

According to KATC.com, Lafayette City-Parish President Joey Durel is the first person to buy a ticket to the newly remodeled theater. Durel said that everything in the theater has been completely remodeled, from the concession stand to the carpets.

Durel spoke today on The Grand's behalf saying:

The company wanted to do something as a gift to Lafayette. They’ve completely remodeled the entire theater — new concession stands, new seating.

It’s like any wound. It’s got to heal. I think this is a final step in the healing process for Lafayette.
