Television host Regis Philbin has died at the age of 88, according to People.

After serving in the Navy and attending college to earn a Sociology degree, Philbin entered the entertainment world 60 years ago and, until recently, held the record for most hours on television.

Best remembered for his morning show "Live! with Regis & Kathy Lee" (Gifford) and as host of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire", Philbin received many accolades, including Emmy awards and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Philbin was preceded in death by one son. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joy, and three daughters.

May he rest in peace, and may his family find strength in their memories of him.
