Several of the deadliest and costliest hurricanes in Louisiana history occurred along similar conditions in the Atlantic and in the Gulf of Mexico.

It only takes one storm to do serious damage to a state along the coast, which is something Louisiana is all-too-familiar with.

Tropical trouble is brewing in the Gulf of Mexico this weekend but Louisiana won't likely feel the effects for several days.

There have already been five named storms so far this season. We've not seen five named storms this early in the hurricane season since 2005.
