Hurricane Nicholas made landfall along the Texas coast just after midnight this morning. The storm, which had been classified as a hurricane for only a few hours is expected to weaken as it slowly moves onshore throughout the course of the morning.
A new tropical depression in the Atlantic and a different area of disturbed weather in the Gulf of Mexico. The good news is that neither of these systems are expected to be major players in South Louisiana's weather.
The latest update on tropical storm Debby from the storm team 3 weather lab at KATC is that the storm has weakened, and is sitting over the northeastern gulf. Expect Debby to make landfall later this week over Florida.
