You may have received a letter recently from the IRS. Don't just chuck it into the trash, read it, because you could be entitled to some extra money.

If you are expecting to get money back after filing your taxes this year from Uncle Sam and/or the state of Louisiana, then you might want to get on over to your tax preparer's now.

Back in December, the Louisiana Department of Revenue (LDR) stated that Louisiana taxpayers would be able to file an electronic state tax return on their website starting today. That will now not be available today.

If you've got money coming back from the state or the federal government then today is the first day you can file your taxes to get some of your money back.

Are you expecting a tax refund this year? You may be waiting awhile. When can you expect to receive your refund? No one is saying, which is why Louisiana lawmakers are questioning the slow pace of state tax refunds.

For those of us who are entitled to get back part of our paychecks from Uncle Sam, you can expect those income tax refunds to be delayed by 10 days in 2014.
