A Ville Platte man has been arrested for allegedly setting a home on fire while people were inside sleeping.

State Fire Marshal's officials are still investigating the case.

The fire happened in the 200 block of Bernard Road.

No word yet on what is going to happen.

COVID compliance checks for businesses that deal directly with the public are underway and ongoing in Lafayette. The first round found three Lafayette businesses in violation.

The fire was allegedly set by a former employee in a trash can near the manager's stand.
