An investigation has been launched after a man died in the custody of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office is hoping to help put childre at ease when they make contact with them.

Authorities were told that the homeowner had received death threats and a video of something wrapped in a bandana that had been hidden under the homeowner's house.

The investigation began on May 24.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith hospitalized, the community prays.

The threats were made on January 13 and 14.
