A female pedestrian is now dead after Lafayette Police say she was struck by a vehicle while trying to cross a roadway on Sunday evening. According to the Lafayette Police Department, the accident occurred around 8:21 pm in the 5100 block of W. Congress Street.

Lafayette Police Department was called out to the crash just after 10:00 pm in the 2600 block of Ambassador Caffery Parkway in Lafayette.

According to Louisiana State Police, the pedestrian was walking southbound on the Frontage Road near mile marker 9 when they were hit and fatally injured.
