A devastating overnight incident on South General Marshall Street has taken a heart-wrenching turn, as the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office has confirmed the death of one of the victims - a child - who was shot during the incident.

An early Saturday morning officer-involved shooting has left two officers and at least three other individuals injured.

Two investigations have started after a report of shots fired on Guilbeau Road Monday morning. Sgt. Robin Green says officers were called to investigate shots being fired in the 100 block of Guilbeau. Once there, they saw a vehicle take off speeding, and they tried to get the driver to stop, but the car took off. ...

The incident is still under investigation, and there is little information being released at this time.

No officers were injured in the incident that involved Louisiana State Police and East Jefferson Levee District Officers, with the subject of the shooting dying on the scene.
