According to a press release from the Lafayette Parish School System, masks will be optional for students and staff following Governor Edwards' announcement regarding the mask mandate in Louisiana. Following federal regulation, those who ride on school buses will still be required to wear masks.
Decreases in hospitalizations, case counts, and the positivity rate are positive signs that Louisiana has seen the worst of the most recent COVID surge.
New reports by UFC insiders show that Commissioner Dana White is open to holding upcoming events in Texas with the state recently announcing that it will be reopening 100%. White has contacted Texas Governor Abbott and while Dallas may not be a possibility, Houston is a top choice for the UFC per White.
The Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, announced that he is ending all of the statewide pandemic restrictions that were put in place last year. Measures included in these restrictions, that will be lifted on March 10, 2021, are the statewide mask mandate as well as capacity restrictions at Texas businesses.
Nanette Cook, one of two members of the Lafayette City Council who have been seeking support for a mask mandate in the city of Lafayette, is now withdrawing her support for it.
