Tonight, an asteroid called 2012 DA14 will be passing close to Earth. It will pass a record distance for an near-Earth asteroid at 17, 200 miles from the Earth's surface. The asteroid is 160 ft in diameter and an estimated mass of 190,000 metric tons. You can watch a live stream of the approaching asteroid here.
