The son of south Louisiana serial killer Derrick Todd Lee has been charged with negligent homicide in the shooting death of a 16-year-old East Feliciana High School student.

Lee received the death penalty for the 2002 murder of Charlotte Murray Pace and is also serving a life sentence after being convicted of second-degree murder in the 2002 murder of Geralyn Barr DeSoto.

Corrections Department spokeswoman Pam Laborde confirmed that Lee, 47, was receiving medical treatment outside of the fences of Angola.

Louisiana's Supreme Court on Friday rejected Derrick Todd Lee's appeal of his conviction and death sentence in the 2002 death of LSU graduate student Charlotte Murray Pace in Baton Rouge.

Lee's case now goes to the Louisiana Supreme Court.
