Celebrities really are just like us — well, Ryan Reynolds is, anyway. Like you, he also wants to see Deadpool and Wolverine reunite on the big screen, this time for a much better film. It took several years, but the tenacious actor’s commitment to getting a proper Deadpool movie off the ground finally paid off (in a huge way), which has Reynolds thinking that maybe it’s time for the Merc With the Mouth and Old Man Logan to get the band back together.

Not long after director Tim Miller exited the Deadpool sequel over creative differences with Ryan Reynolds, reports revealed the reason behind the split: Miller, a VFX pro, wanted to make a more polished (and more expensive) sequel, while Reynolds (and screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick) wanted to stick to the scrappy (and less expensive) style that made the first film such a hit. Now, with John Wick co-director David Leitch at the helm, Reynolds and producer Simon Kinberg have offered a quick update on Deadpool 2, including words of praise for Leitch and a promise to make sure the sequel is in keeping with its predecessor.

And another one bites the dust. Following the surprising departure of director Tim Miller last week, the Deadpool sequel has lost another creative component, as composer Junkie XL has exited the project. In a personal statement on his Facebook page, the composer says he decided to leave the sequel as a show of solidarity for Miller, who clashed with star Ryan Reynolds over the creative direction of Deadpool 2.

The original Deadpool costume was padded with fake muscles. Three days before Deadpool even hit theaters, 20th Century Fox had already reportedly greenlit a sequel to the Merc With a Mouth’s debut solo outing. The studio had every right to be confident, as Deadpool went on to become the highest-grossing R-rated film worldwide and Fox’s highest-grossing X-Men film to date. Fox hasn’t officially announced Deadpool 2 just yet, but we do know that it’s happening and that X-Force’s Cable will appear in the film.
