Yesterday the comic book world lost an icon with the passing of Stan Lee. As you know, Lee was the co-creator of Spider-Man, one of the biggest superheroes of all time. For fun, I decided to take a look to see what the most valuable Spider-Man comic books are.
Sometimes, the best films are the ones with the simplest concepts. For instance, “just 100 minutes of Keanu Reeves beating the pus out of Russian gangsters” turned out to be a premise worth its weight in gold, as if cinema has never really needed more than Keanu in an all-black suit delivering beatdown after beatdown. In 2014, John Wick effortlessly reminded audiences of how competent, how brutal, how downright fun action cinema could and should be, and the studios responded in kind with news of a sequel. But all dogs would do well to watch their little doggy backs in the months to come, because Wick’s got more than a movie on the horizon.
The Deadpool Effect is now officially a thing. As many predicted and suspected following Deadpool’s surprising success at the box office this past weekend, movie studios would try to capitalize on the success of that film by making their superhero movies R-rated (ignoring the fact that that was just a very small part of why Deadpool was successful). Just this morning we brought you the news that the X-Force movie could be rated R and now comes word that Hugh Jackman’s still untitled final Wolverine movie (Wolverine 3? The Wolverine 2?) is being planned as an R-rated film.
Lafayette native and Eisner Award and Harvey Award-winning comic book artist Rob Guillory, co-creator of the New York Times best-selling comic book series Chew, can add Marvel Comics to his list of work. He will be illustrating "Thor Annual #1", which will be written by former WWE Superstar CM Punk, which also makes his Marvel debut.
Things got interesting with the upcoming 'Suicide Squad' movie when it was revealed that Jesse Eisenberg would be returning after 'Batman vs. Superman' to star as Lex Luthor. Then, things got really interesting when it was revealed that Jared Leto was in talks to star as The Joker, introducing Batman's greatest nemesis in the new era of 'Justice League' films. What was once thought to be a ragtag group of B-side villains is now shaping up to be a roster full of DC's evil A-list villains. And, now you can even more iconic villain to the lineup. What would any Joker appearance in 'Suicide Squad' be without Harley Quinn, who will be played by 'Wolf of Wall Street' star Margot Robbie.
You love reading about their adventures and feel like they are almost a part of your life but would you really want to grab a brew in real life with a comic book superhero (or villain)? Here are ten comic book characters who would make particularly bad friends.
SDCC 2013 has come and gone, and we may have been sitting in our hot, un-air conditioned NYC apartment, sweating out a horrendous heat wave in our underpants, but our friends at Comics Alliance and ScreenCrush got to go, and they took some great pictures!
I know Halloween just came and went, but it's never too early to start thinking of what you're going to dress up as for next year. If you're a fan of the comic or movie, Watchmen, then you're familiar with the character Rorschach. His mask is like a moving ink blot test (aka Rorschach test...see what they did there?). Now...those masks are REAL!!! Check out the video for details and to see the mas
While this isn't the first time Clark Kent has stepped down from his position as a newspaper reporter, it's still kind of a big deal in that he's doing it for modern day reasons. Plus that's been his place of employment since the 30's! After The Daily Planet is bought by Galaxy Broadcasting, a huge entertainment source, Superman aka Clark Kent is fed up that all they run are stories about Lookie's
After Gary Dahlberg passed away in a fire last year, his loved ones were left with what seemed like a burden: stacks upon stacks of comic books that filled an entire spare bedroom.
What they didn't know, however, was just how valuable those books were.
