Submerged Vehicle In Downtown Lafayette Underpass Reminder To Avoid Driving In Floodwaters
If you needed an obvious reminder to not drive on flooded roadways, here it is.
As flooding closed major roadways and intersections throughout Lafayette and surrounding areas early Thursday morning, photos and videos poured in by the dozens. One of the most alarming visuals we saw was a car that was completely submerged in floodwater in the Jefferson Street underpass in Downtown Lafayette.
I'm not trying to sound like your parent, but I can't stress enough how important it is to avoid driving your vehicle through flooded areas.
According to The Current, the driver of the vehicle you see in the photos was rescued by firefighters who had to smash out her back window to bring her to safety.
As the saying goes: Don't drown. Turn around.
