After 17 years of a a supposed "obscene" hand gesture by Steven Tyler in the pre-show recording on the Rock 'N' Roller Coaster, Disney has altered the video.

Aerosmith and Disney teamed up almost two decades ago to bring the masses the most excellent Rock 'N' Roller Coaster. Whenever one rides the coaster, you are treated to a pre-ride video.

The room and video is set-up to look like Aerosmith's recording studio. The video coincides with the audience being in the room. A real studio set-up is in front of the audience. The video screen makes it look like Aerosmith are in the booth behind it. There's even a part where Joe Perry asks "Chris" to grab his black Les Paul. It used to be set up where a Disney worker who is supposed to be "Chris" comes out into the actual studio portion in front of the audience and grabs the guitar.

The whole idea of the ride is that Aerosmith are late for a gig. Their "manager" comes in to fuss at them, and tell them to get in the limo to get to the show. Steven Tyler doesn't like the fact that they're leaving all of their fans behind. So, they decide to take us with them.

Here's where the "obscene" gesture comes in. When one of the band members says, "I wish we could take them all with us," Steven Tyler says, "Wait a minute. I love that idea." When he does this he looks at the audience, and puts his hand over his brow as if he's looking past lighting (something that he had done a time or two previously in the video). When he does it this time he pulls his ring finger back, and displays what came to be known as "The Shocker."

Apparently Disney is REEEEEEEAAAAAALLLY late to the game, or they just let it happen for 17 years. Or...maybe, for whatever reason, kids who saw it a long time ago, and laughed, were now bringing their children, and they knew what it was, so they complained.

I know that "Wait a minute. I love that idea," along with the hand gesture, was used quite a lot in my circle of friends in high school.

Anyhoo...Here's how the video looks now.
