Staind have started work on their seventh album, singer Aaron Lewis has revealed.

Speaking to Vegas.com, Lewis said the band are "in the studio right now recording another record".

The frontman is touring his debut solo album 'Town Line' as well as working with the band on the follow-up to 2008's 'The Illusion Of Progess'.

Lewis has said that the new Staind material is "heavy" and that the band are "steering clear of any ideas that come out of us that might be of the more poppy or mellow nature, and we're concentrating on this being a very in your face record".

The band are working with Sevendust producer Johnny K on the new album. K also worked with the band on 'The Illusion Of Progess'.
