If you are looking to get into the holiday spirit, we have a great event for you to consider attending with the entire family.

The St. Lucy Festival of Lights will be held this Saturday, December 12 at Saint Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville. The event is free for all to attend and will run from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Below is the complete schedule of planned events for the day.

  • 4:00 pm -- Mass - Saint Martin de Tours Catholic Church
  • 5:00 pm  -- Musical Entertainment ♦ Chariot Parade ♦ Photos with Santa & Mrs. Claus
  • 6:00 pm - Lighting of the Square ♦ Open House - St. Martin de Tours Rectory ♦ Musical Entertainment
  • 7:00 pm -- Live Nativity following the Lighting of the Church Square ♦ Lighting of candles in honor of loved ones

There will also be food trucks on site along with hot chocolate and sweets for sale.

Committee member George Choplin said that it's been eight years since the St. Lucy Festival of Lights has happened and the city is hoping that this tradition is able to be continued every year.

"I tell you right now, if you come out and visit, you're gonna see something special in St. Martinville," said Choplin. "This little community is so close-knit we know how to have a good time and I think it's time that we go ahead and try to at least enjoy life."
