Spider-Man Statue In South Korea Is Being Taken Down For Being Too Lewd

"How can a statue of Spider-Man be too lewd," you ask? What if the statue sported a giant erection, and was overlooking a playground...would you say it's too lewd then? That's why this South Korean statue is being taken down!

My fiancé sent this to me earlier today. I laughed at the initial shock of it, cause I still hold on to my 12 year old sense of humor. Then I realized where this Spider-Man statue was placed...It was on the side of a shopping mall that over looked a playground. No wonder it's being taken down!

The statue was placed at the scene in 2013. It's artist is Eunsuk Yoo. After complaints rang in, Yoo was asked to take the statue down, or modify it. As not to mess with his artistic integrity, he chose to take it down.

He said this on his Facebook page about why he chose to give Spider-Man an erection. Kotaku gives the translation:

I am the artist who made this piece. My reason for it was that I wanted apply the natural physical phenomenon to a superhero depict whats's natural in the morning without lies and superficial-ness in a comical way. 

He goes on to say that he realizes that a place such as a shopping center might not be the best place for a piece such as that.
