The web-slinger's next adventure will be called Homecoming, the film studio — in collaboration with Sony Pictures — confirmed at CinemaCon in Las Vegas last night (April 13). It hits theaters on July 7, 2017. Homecoming will be directed by Jon Watts, and will star Tom Holland as Peter Parker, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May and Zendaya as Michelle, a new "key role."
Holland will first appear as the character in Captain America: Civil War, which premieres next month, and told CinemaCon audiences the title Homecoming will have a particular meaning to Parker.
"Peter is trying to find his true identity and where he really belongs in this world," Holland noted, according to Entertainment Weekly.
EW also reported that Sony unveiled a new teaser clip as part of the presentation in which Robert Downey Jr.'s character, Tony Stark/Iron Man, visits Parker and Aunt May at their Queens apartment and points out how young May looks (groan...). "It’s so hard for me to believe that she’s someone’s aunt," Stark says.
