South Louisiana Community College in Lafayette (SLCC) has announced that they will be offering several classes to the general public.

Here is the list of those classes, which begin as early as July 21 at SLCC Lafayette Campus:

Private Investigator Exam Prep course: July 21-30

In this class, participants will learn how information is gathered and used in the investigative process, obtain basic investigative skills; and prepare for the Private Investigator Exam. Classes are held Fridays from 6pm to 10pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 8am. to 5pm.The total course time is 40 hours and costs $350.

Louisiana Concealed Carry and Basic Pistol Safety class:  Saturday, July 22 from 8am to 5pm

This course consists of eight hours of training including range time. Upon completion, applicants are qualified to apply for a Louisiana Concealed Weapons permit. The cost of the course includes a learner's packet through the National Rifle Association, application for permit, Notary fee and lunch. The fee for the course is $185. A firearm and ammunition for the course can be furnished for an additional $30.

Participants must be 21 years of age or older and have a valid driver’s license, a firearm and 50 rounds of ammunition. Attendees must also bring proper hearing and eye protection for the live shooting portion of the class which is held off-site.

The course is approved by the Louisiana State Police.

Notary Public Exam Prep class: held Wednesdays from 5:30pm to 8:30pm from August 2 to November 29

This course is designed as a supplement in preparing to take the Notary Public examination by providing a study of the Official Louisiana Study Guide. Some of the topics covered will be the preparation of incorporation, collateral mortgages (liens/privileges), acts, types of contracts, successions, tutorships, notarial wills, and interdictions. The fee for this course is $499.
