Skillet Unveil Music Video for ‘Sick of It’
Skillet have unveiled the official video for ‘Sick of It,’ the fist-pumping first single from their upcoming release ‘Rise,’ due out on June 25. The anthemic rocker perfectly complements the message behind their new disc, the story of a teen coming into their own and dealing with a world full of problems they have no control over.
The energetic video mixes high octane performance clips with a series of people from all walks of life pushed to their limits as the powerful lyrics to the song ring out around them: ‘Are you sick of it? / Raise your hands / Get Rid of it / While there’s a fighting chance./ Are you over it? / Bored to death? / Have you had enough regret? / Take a stand, raise your hands.'
'Rise' developed into a full-fledged concept album after the band realized the songs they were writing were all heading in the same direction. "The narrative idea happened after we had 10 or 11 of the songs chosen," said singer and bassist John Cooper. "As we recorded them, we started to realize there was something going on, that the album was really telling a story. Realizing that, I knew we needed to make it as powerful as we could."
Skillet will have the opportunity to take 'Rise' out on the road when they join Shinedown, Papa Roach and In this Moment on the 2013 Carnival of Madness tour, kicking off in August.
