Sister Accidentally Shoots And Kills Brother While Posing For Facebook Photo
In a tragic example of why guns, alcohol and social media don't mix, a woman accidentally shot and killed her brother while posing for a Facebook photo early in the morning on New Year's Day.
According to reports, 22-year-old Manuel Ortiz and 19-year-old Savannah Ramirez returned to the home they shared in Phoenix, Arizona, after a night of drinking on New Year's Eve.
Then, the brother and sister, along with two other people, decided to pose with a handgun for Facebook photos. As Ramirez played with the gun, it reportedly went off, striking Ortiz in the head and killing him instantly around 6am.
It's unclear whether the group knew the gun was loaded. Friends of the family maintain the shooting was an accident, but police say Ramirez could be charged with manslaughter if tests show she was drunk at the time.
"Every New Year's Eve, this particular sister is going to be thinking about this for the rest of her life," said Phoenix Police Sgt. Steve Martos.
Wow. That was depressing. Let's just all stick to fireworks on NYE.
