The spectacular weather that was this weekend across Acadiana will come to an abrupt end by later this evening. A cold front currently situated over northern and central Texas will be moving this way and by tonight will be the cause of scattered showers and thunderstorms across Acadiana.

The Storm Prediction Center forecast does not anticipate a large outbreak of severe weather with the arrival of this system. They are forecasting that much of Central Louisiana could be at a marginal risk for severe storms.

For those of us that live along and south of the I-10 corridor some heavy downpours and a little lightning and thunder shouldn't be ruled out before the system moves out of the area early Tuesday morning.

The daylight hours of Monday shouldn't be too bad, as far as outside conditions go. The bulk of the precipitation isn't expected to move into the northwestern sections of Acadiana until well past supper time tonight.

Rainfall amounts could be as high as an inch in some places. However, most people will see significantly smaller totals. By Tuesday morning the frontal system should have moved out of the area and clearing skies and much cooler temperatures should begin to move into the area.

This relatively calm weather pattern should remain in place for the bulk of the work week with a chance of showers and storms returning to the area by Friday night into Saturday.
