Scientists from Temple University have found a toxic lake on the floor of the Gulf of Mexico, according to iflscience.com. Associate professor of biology Eric Cordes and his associates discovered the toxic brine pool while aboard the Okeanos Explorerer. Peliminary analysis indicates high concentrations of methane, sulfur dioxide, and salinity about five times the levels in the surrounding water.
