Acadia & Lafayette Parishes Added To List Of Schools Dismissing Early
Acadiana may get some severe thunderstorms in the area later today as a line of storms pushes through the area.
With that said, some schools are dismissing early due to the threat of storms entering the area at about the time school will be dismissed.
We will monitor the weather and potential closures all day. Please check back here for more info as it becomes available and tune-in to this station for more updates.
Here are the schools planning to dismiss early today (Dec. 16, 2019)
Acadia Parish: All Acadia Parish schools will dismiss one hour earlier than their normal dismissal time.
Evangeline Parish: All public schools will dismiss at noon today
Lafayette Parish: All Lafayette Parish School System schools will dismiss one hour earlier than their normal dismissal time. All after school events, including after-care programs, are canceled.
J. Wallace James Elementary is closing school at 2:40 p.m.
St. Cecelia in Broussard will close at 1:45 pm due to impending severe weather. There will be no after care.
Carencro Catholic is closing at 2:15. All after school programs have been canceled.
United Christian Academy will dismiss school at 2:30 pm
Lafayette Christian Academy:
PreK-2nd grade = 1:15 PM
3rd-8th grade = 1:30 PM
High School = 1:40 PM
St. Landry Parish Public Schools are letting out early. Here's their closure announcement:
The dismissal schedule is as follows:
12:50 PM - Special programs to include MACA, OHS BIOMED, SLATS
1:00 PM - All Junior and High Schools in SLP
1:15 PM - North Central High and Palmetto Elementary
1:30PM - All Elementary Schools in SLP
Early and Head Start Centers
12:30 PM - Lawtell, Port Barre, Sunset / Grand Coteau
1:30 PM - all other Early and Head Start Centers
Leonville, Melville, Opelousas, Eunice, Lebeau, Washington
