The Saints turned down a couple offers for Brandin Cooks, but the Patriots ended up proposing a deal that caught their eye in the end.

It was rumored that the Patriots were offering cornerback Malcolm Butler for Cooks, but the Saints didn't accept that offer. They turned down the Titans' 18th overall pick too, but they finally pulled the trigger when New England came back with a new offer.

Now, New Orleans has two picks in the first round and two picks in the third round. With so many holes to fill, the Saints have a chance to address a couple needs early in the draft.

This decision puts a lot of pressure on the Saints to draft wisely. After passing up on a trade involving Butler, they now have to make sure they grab a solid starter in the first round. ESPN's Adam Schefter said the Patriots and Saints are still talking about another possible trade involving Butler, but a lot of Saints fans thought they would get him for Cooks.

When the news broke, there was a mixed reaction from the New Orleans media, but most of them were skeptical to say the least.

Mickey Loomis sat at the poker table for a long time waiting for the right offer. Did he cash in on this deal or did he leave money on the table?
