After a winless preseason filled with injuries, the New Orleans Saints had a fitting end to their final preseason contest, losing 38-10 in Green Bay versus the Packers.

Backup quarterback Luke McCown started under center for the Saints, going 5-5 for 82 yards and a 7 yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Willie Snead, giving the Saints an early 7-0 lead.

Kicker Dustin Hopkins hit a 21 yarder later in the first quarter, giving the Saints a 10-0 lead at the end of 1. It was all Packers from there.

Green Bay scored 38 unanswered, getting a solid performance from backup rookie quarterback Brett Hundley out of UCLA. Hundley threw 4 scores, carving up a poor Saints secondary.

New Orleans depth at secondary looks weak after Thursday night's performance, as Stanely-Jean Baptiste and Pierre Warren were each burnt for a 77 yard touchdown.

On a positive note, receivers Snead and Brandon Coleman put in good work Thursday, doing their best to show head coach Sean Payton they can carry some of the load behind starters Brandin Cooks and Marques Colston.

Coleman in particular, who had only 1 preseason reception going into Thursday's game with the Packers, pulled in 4 big catches for 82 yards on 4 targets, including a 45 yarder. Snead added his touchdown, and 3 catches overall for 31 yards.

Next up, Saints must cut their roster from 75 players down to 53 by 3:00 Saturday afternoon.

Their season opens a week from Sunday in Arizona against the Cardinals.
