Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that Rob Ryan will be hired as the next defensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints.

However, Larry Holder of the Times-Picayune is reporting that the hiring of Ryan is not a done deal, and the Saints plan on interviewing Georgia defensive coordinator Todd Grantham, in addition to Ryan.

Ryan has been a defensive coordinator for three teams in the last 8 years, most recently with the Dallas Cowboys. Ryan is partial to a 3-4 defense, something that Saints head coach Sean Payton said he wants to install this season.

Grantham has been the defensive coordinator for the Georgia Bulldogs since 2009. Though he's been coaching in college, Grantham has NFL experience, having spent time as the Cleveland Browns' defensive coordinator from 2005-2007. Before that, he was a defensive line coach for three different teams.
