The parade barricades are already being staged around Lafayette in anticipation of a busy Mardi Gras parade weekend. Those barricades will go into the streets beginning Friday morning.

The hope is that thousands of revelers will be behind those barricades on Saturday when the Krewe Des Chiens Parade and the Krewe of Carnival en Rio Parade rolls through Lafayette.

The fly in the ointment is what will Mother Nature be serving up in the way of weather on Saturday?

Right now the forecast from KATC TV is calling for an 80% chance of rain and thunderstorms. The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has a 70% chance of rain forecast for the area on Saturday. The bottom line is this, it's going to rain on Saturday, but when?

Right now forecasters have pinpointed Saturday afternoon as the best time for rain and thunderstorms. This could affect the Carencro Parade which is scheduled to roll at 11 AM. The Krewe Des Chien and the Lake Arthur Parades are set to roll at 2 PM.

The good news is the rain could be on its way out of the are by the time Rio is scheduled to kick off at 6:30 PM.

Naturally, we want you to use this information for planning purposes and don't cancel any plans just yet. Mother Nature can be quite fickle and the timing of the storm system that is supposed to create the wet weather is certainly subject to change.
