The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns played and defeated the South Alabama Jaguars on Saturday 48-38 to win on senior night.

Today was the final home game of the 2018 season at Cajun Field for first-year head coach Billy Napier as the team faced South Alabama on Senior Day. It's a special day to honor those who are in their final year of college athletics here for the Ragin' Cajuns football game.

Louisiana got themselves a quick turnover in this game by defensive back Duece Wallace on South Al's first possession of the football game. That takeaway would lead to points for the Cajuns as they turned it into a Ja'Marcus Bradley touchdown and UL held a 10-0 lead throughout the first quarter.

As we pushed into the second quarter the Jaguars engineered one heck of a drive that would span 20 plays in which they went for it on 4th down four times and converted every time. The drive ended with a touchdown run by Kawaan Baker of eight yards to cut the Cajuns lead to 10-7.

As the second quarter went along it would be another extended drive from the Jaguars offense that spanned 15 plays and ate up more than seven minutes off the game clock that resulted in a field goal that tied the game at 10.

Raymond Calais would return the ensuing kickoff 54 yards out to the South Alabama 44-yard line. Levi Lewis would enter now for his first stint of action for the day and it would take him only one throw to pick up 44 yards and a score to Ja'Marcus Bradley which gave the Cajuns a 17-10 lead.

Before you could even sit down the Cajuns surprised with an on-sides kick and it was recovered by the kicker Kyle Pfau. UL was able to steal a possession and they turned it into a score with, guess who, Ja'Marcus Bradley who had a hat trick of scores in the first half. That increased the lead to 24-10 Louisiana.

However, right before the half ended South Alabama got into the end zone for a score that closed the gap to 24-17 and they were getting the ball back in the second half.

With getting the ball back in the second half the Jaguars tied the game at 24 before the Cajuns responded with an Elijah Mitchell 45-yard touchdown run that increased the lead to 31-24.

Right before the end of the third quarter, we saw the Cajuns reach the end zone and it was again running back Elijah Mitchell from about a yard out to increase their lead to 41-24.

The fourth quarter was relatively quiet until about the final six minutes as South Alabama scored to cut the lead to 41-31. The game was put away however with the third touchdown of the game by Elijah Mitchell, this one was from three yards out and increased the lead up to 48-31. The Jags would add a meaningless final score to pull again within 10 but that's as close as they would come as the Cajuns won it 48-38.

With the win, they improved to 6-5 overall and 4-3 in the Sun Belt Conference.
