Random Thursday sunbathing on a Grand Isle, Louisiana beach turned dangerous for a 24-year-old woman.

A police officer allegedly didn't see the woman, Lindsey Gordon, and ran over her in his marked pickup truck.

State police are investigating the incident while Grand Isle Police Assistant Chief Norris Esponge is on administrative leave.

Esponge had driven down the beach, and didn't see Gordon, or her friend when he doubled back, and allegedly ran over her.

Gordon's mother, Suzanne Baggett, says the two women had just gotten to the beach, and laid down. Her daughter saw the truck coming, screamed, but didn't have time to get out of the way. Her friend was left unscathed in the incident.

Gordon has reportedly undergone several surgeries for a shattered pelvis, and internal bleeding.
