Two unrelated shootings on Saturday in Lafayette have left one person dead and another injured.

The first shooting happened around 3:00 a.m. in the 200 block of Poydras Street. Lafayette Police Department spokesman Sergeant Wayne Griffin says a victim was found on scene with a single gunshot would to his lower torso. He is in the hospital listed in stable condition.

Officers say the suspect, Nathaniel Zeno, was able to get away before officers arrived. When captured, Zeno will be charged with one count of illegal discharge of a firearm and one count of felon in possession of firearm.

Later in the day, the second shooting happened in the 500 block of Joan Street around 11 p.m.

Officers say a victim died from a single gunshot wound. The unidentified suspect was able to get away before officers arrived.
