Overnight Robbery Attempt in Lafayette Leaves One Teenager Dead

22-year-old Fernando Castellanos Tejada has been arrested after an alleged robbery attempt left the teenage male victim dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

According to a press release from Lafayette Police, the deadly incident happened around 2 AM Wednesday morning in the 1700 block of Eraste Landry Road. The 16-year-old victim was found in the yard of a home and then transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Tejada was pulled over during a traffic stop shortly after the shooting. He was eventually booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center and booked on the following charges:

• First Degree Murder
• Attempted Armed Robbery
• Domestic Abuse Aggravated Assault

The investigation continues.
