Lafayette Nurse Administers COVID-19 Vaccine To Doctor Who Saved Her Life 20 Years Ago
After spending much of 2020 battling COVID-19 on the front lines, our healthcare workers are among the first to recieve the coronavirus vaccine.
The conronavirus vaccine isn't a silver bullet by any means, but it's a huge first step in overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic and early this morning some of our local heroes at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center were able to get their initial round of the vaccine.
One of the photos they shared on the official OLOL Facebook page has a backstory that is both heartwarming and, in a way, comes full circle.
Lafayette native and CBS Lead National Correspondent David Begnaud shared the photo on his official Twitter account detailing why the moment was indeed a special one for everyone invovled.
What a special moment for David's mom Cyd, considering that most cancer survivors who go through situations like hers never really get the opportunity to "pay back" the people responsible for saving their lives. While Cyd may feel like she can never truly pay back Dr. Brierre, I'd like to think that this is about as close as it gets.
Best of luck to Cyd, Dr. Brierre, and all our front line healthcare workers who have gotten us through the coronavirus pandemic thus far, and will now be able to safely take us the rest of the way.
