New ‘Roseanne’ Spin-Off Picked Up By ABC
ABC made a big show announcement for fans of the “Roseanne” reboot, but it doesn’t include the show’s namesake Roseanne Barr. A spin-off show has been picked up for next season and will focus on the rest of the all-star cast. The show is being called “The Conners” for now.
Barr was fired by ABC after she tweeted a racist remark about an Obama administration official. The network cancel the show completely causing an outcry from fans of the rebooted 90s sitcom. Reports said as many as 200 members of the crew were also let go.
Sara Gilbert, the actress who played Darlene on the show, was one of the producers and was an early proponent of continuing the show without Barr. All of the series’ main characters came back for the reboot which had been ABC’s highest rated new show.
