Doctors told Delvin Breaux that he shouldn't have survived the injury. Miraculously, not only did he do just that, but he made a hell of a comeback, and is now in the NFL!

By now, I'm sure you know the amazing comeback story of New Orleans native Delvin Breaux.

When he was playing high school football at McDonogh 35, he broke multiple vertebrae in his neck after making a hit in a game.

"That play, October 27th, that play changed my life," Breaux recalled. "The doctors said, 'You broke your neck, son. You supposed to be dead. You supposed to be dead on that field.'"

He was already committed to LSU, but that play ended that dream of playing football in college. LSU still upheld their end of the bargain, and gave him his scholarship.

After continuing to rehabilitate, he was finally cleared to play football again. He spent time with the Louisiana Bayou Vipers, New Orleans Voodoo, and the CFL's Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Then, he got the phone call of a lifetime. It was a 504 area code. He was coming home! Sean Payton wanted Breaux to play for the Saints.

After proving himself in camp, in preseason, and into the regular season, he's become quite the cornerback to watch in the NFL!

According to Pro Football Focus, "He is playing like one of the best cornerbacks in the league this season," PFF analyst Nathan Jahnke wrote. "He is playing at a Pro Bowl level."

It's been a long 9 years, but Breaux couldn't be happier. Here's what he had to say via Twitter:

We're proud of you, Delvin! Keep up the good work! WHO DAT?!
