According to gibson.com, Muse have announced that they will soon begin recording their new album in London – the first time the band have recorded in the British capitol. Muse told BBC6 Music that they’ll start on sessions by the end of the year.

“We’ve actually never made a full album here,” frontman Matt Bellamy said. “It’ll be nice to all be based in the same place, we can go out and socialize. It also means we can make the album over a longer period of time without having to pressurize it into a three-week studio session. You can spread it out more.”

When asked when fans could expect to hear the sixth Muse album, Bellamy said, “I’d like 2012 if possible but 2013 definitely.”

Muse are still playing shows to promote their 2009 album, The Resistance. They have a few Spring shows planned where they will open for U2. They call the sporadic dates “casual touring.”

“We’re trying to do a couple of gigs every month to keep ourselves fresh and keeps ourselves active,” Bellamy said. “Then we probably will start making the album towards the end of the year.”
