Metallica’s James Hetfield Calls Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine A ‘Big Mouth’ [Video]
Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has never been afraid to speak his mind, which has has gotten him in hot water quite a bit over the years, and several times recently. For years he feuded with his ex-bandmates in Metallica, but they recently patched things up.
Mustaine has recently said he would love to play with James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich again, and talked about putting together a supergroup with them. Now, Hetfield doesn’t sound like he’s too interested in that possibility.
A special edition of Metallica’s fan club magazine ‘So What!’ is being published in conjunction with ‘Metal Hammer’ to commemorate the band’s 30th anniversary concerts in December of 2011 at the Fillmore in San Francisco. Mustaine played with Metallica during the final show, sitting in for several songs from the band’s 1983 debut ‘Kill ‘Em All.’
According to Metal Injection, in an interview in ‘So What’ magazine, Hetfield discussed the reconnection with Mustaine and his penchant for talking. “I see him healthier now. I see him as less of a bitter guy. But I do see a lot of stuff in the press with him talking about jamming with us and making an album. All this other crazy stuff. I read it and say to myself, ‘Hold on. This is the Dave that we kind of wanted to forget about. You know, the big mouth that wants to just go-go-go.’ But there is an authenticity about him when he speaks. He doesn’t think too much before he does. He just goes off the cuff. Plus, when he says stuff like that, it’s well-intended.”
The special editon of ‘So What!’ will be available May 14. There’s also a video preview of the magazine.
