In their latest onstage "doodle," Metallica's Kirk Hammett and Rob Trujillo busted out Iron Maiden's classic track "Killers" at their London show. It turns out Kirk kind of sounds like Paul Di'Anno and you can watch the clip in the video below.

Trujillo teased the Twickenham Stadium crowd, observing the mic stand which Hammett was standing behind, previewing the surprise that was about to come. "You do see a mic stand in front of Kirk, it's gonna be awesome," the bassist said.

The duo launched into the title track from Iron Maiden's second album, though without anyone to keep the beat, the start was considerably shaky — an unfortunate downside to many of the doodles.

Taking the first part of the first verse, Trujillo could've used an extra glance at the lyric sheet in front of him as he grunted through a couple lines. Then Hammett took the mic with a voice like a cross between Gene Simmons and Paul Di'Anno. Rough and raw, Hammett's take fell perfectly in line with the streetwise spirit of the original.

Not content with resigning covers to the stage, Hammet has formed an all-star project "The Wedding Band" with Trujillo, inviting Joey Castillo (Queens of the Stone Age, Danzig) and Whitfield Crane (Ugly Kid Joe) to join in on the one-off performance in Canada.

Metallica's "WorldWired" tour continues into November. Get tickets and more info here.
