According to the Georgia State Police, three individuals were killed in a van accident in Jackson County, GA early Monday morning.

The van was carrying two heavy metal bands, Wormreich from Alabama and Khaotica from the Atlanta area. The bands were on their way to a gig at The Basement in Atlanta to be played tonight.

According to the Georgia State police, the driver of the van may have fallen asleep and struck a tree down the embankment off of the Interstate. Three people were ejected from the van and later died and three more are listen in critical condition.

Georgia State Police spokesman Cpl. Scott Smith had this to say about the accident:

The driver lost control, either by going to sleep or some other means, we're still investigating that. He left the roadway, travelled about 300 feet off the roadway and struck a tree with the passenger side of the van.

There has been no official statement from either of the bands and no names have been released by the Georgia State Police. Our condolences go out to the family, friends and crew of those involved.
