"Hello me, meet the real me!"

This is a quote from one of my favorite Megadeth songs called "Sweating Bullets". But when I found out that Dave Mustaine and the boys are to release their follow-up to the 2009 masterpiece "Endgame", I got chills instead of sweating bullets!

Set to be released in November of 2011, the new album will be called "TH1RT3EN". It is definitely the most appropriate title since this will be Megadeth's 13th studio album, which means Metallica is slacking in the writing department!! I have always been more of a Megadeth fan than a Metallica fan.

Now, don't get me wrong, I love me some old school Metallica, but Megadeth, after being around just as long as their biggest rival, still delivers (with the exception of "Risk") that old school "Rust In Peace" style of writing.

The album is being produced by Johnny K, if you click his link, has a pretty impressive resume. Of course, Megadeth were planning to have mega meatl producer Andy Sneap helming the project, but due to scheduling conflicts, it could not happen. Sneap previously produced the last two albums, "Endgame" and "United Abominations", which are my favorite records since 1994's "Youthanasia".

"TH1RT3EN" will also feature the return of original bassist and co-founder David Ellefson. This will be the first record since 2001's "The World Needs A Hero". Most Megadeth fans should know about the past falling out between Mustaine and Ellefson. Right before the 20th anniversary "Rust In Peace" tour last year, which kicked arse by the way, the two Daves reconciled and Megadeth has been solid as ever.

This will mark the second time lead guitarist Chris Broderick will be on the record. In my opinion, this has been the most solid line up since the Mustaine, Ellefson, Marty Friedman and Nick Menza era, maybe better! Tard would agree with me on this one!! On June 3, 2011, it was announced that a new song, "Never Dead", was to be included in a trailer for the video game NeverDead, marking the third time in five years the band contributed a new song towards promoting a video game ("Gears of War" in 2006 to promote "Gears of War" and "Sudden Death" in 2010 for inclusion in "Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock" being the other two).

Confirmed titles include:
  • "Never Dead"
  • "Public Enemy No. 1"
  • "Sudden Death"
  • "TH1RT3EN"

Megadeth is aiming for a November 1st release. Keep tuning into The Grindhouse every Sunday night at 9PM CST for Megadeth news. I really am fired up for this one, especially if their current direction continues!!!!
