The Louisiana Department of Health has issued its daily update for Friday, May 8th.

There are now 30,855 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Louisiana. That number is up 203 since yesterday.

Numbers show that there are 1,359 reported COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized- a decrease of 73 since yesterday.

185 patients are on ventilators across the state. That is a decrease of 4 since yesterday.

The total number of deaths reported due to the coronavirus is now at 2,154 an increase of 19 since yesterday.

As of today, 20,316 COVID-19 patients are presumed to have recovered.

 

The total number of coronavirus cases in the Acadiana region is 1,696 (up 11 cases since yesterday) with 154 deaths reported (no new deaths reported).

Lafayette Parish: 481 cases, 21 deaths

(Up three cases with no new death reported since yesterday.)

 

Iberia Parish: 283 cases, 26 deaths

(Up two cases with two new deaths reported since yesterday.)

 

St. Martin Parish: 255 cases, 20 deaths

(Up 1 case and no new deaths since yesterday.)

 

St. Mary Parish: 224 cases, 24 deaths

(2 new cases, no new deaths reported since yesterday.)

 

St. Landry Parish: 204 cases, 49 deaths

(Up 1 case with one new death reported since yesterday)

 

Acadia Parish: 142 cases, 11 deaths

(No change since yesterday.)

 

Evangeline Parish: 67 cases, 1 death

(Three new cases and no new deaths since yesterday.)

 

Vermilion Parish: 40 cases, 2 deaths

(No new cases, no new deaths since yesterday.)

 

The numbers are updated and released every day at noon.
