May 2019 New Music Releases
The list of May 2019 new music releases finds a trio of classic rock's best-known performers charging forward with new music, while two others take a look back.
Whitesnake's 13th studio album, titled Flesh & Blood, marks the first time David Coverdale has co-written with guitarists Reb Beach and Joel Hoekstra. The band's most recent album of original material dates to 2011's Forevermore; they did an album in tribute to Deep Purple in 2015.
Sammy Hagar is also set to issue his first studio album with the Circle. The debut release from the band, which features longtime friend and bandmate Michael Anthony, Jason Bonham and Vic Johnson, was the At Your Service live LP from 2015.
Duff McKagan's new solo album, Tenderness, was produced by Shooter Jennings. The Guns N' Roses bassist will also be backed by Jennings and his band on the supporting tour.
Elsewhere, Paul McCartney and Sting are returning to earlier projects. My Songs features “re-imagined” versions of some of Sting's favorite Police and solo cuts. An expanded version of McCartney's most recent album, retitled Egypt Station: Traveller's Edition, features three previously unheard songs. But hurry, it's limited to just 3,000 copies.
