So, I've just sat through one of the coolest experiences at the movies...ever! Marvel's The Avengers opened in theaters in the US today with much anticipation and hype. I am relieved to say...it was well worth it! This is most definitely a movie you should see, whether you are a fan of comic books or not.

It was very smart on Marvel Studios' part to release Iron Man and it's sequel, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, and Captain America: The First Avenger before putting together this plethora of superheros on screen together. Now, I have done movie reviews on here in the past and I still want to let you know that my reviews are not littered with spoilers.

I wasn't disappointed when I found out that Joss Whedon was writing and directing this film. I am a HUGE fan of his short-lived television series Firefly and the feature film Serenity. I will tell you that if you haven't seen anything Joss Whedon has done, expect some humor in the story, even when things are dramatic.

Now on to the film...

It delivers on all scales! What I liked about it the most, is and probably was the most important thing about a film this scale, the running time, which runs at 143 minutes. The film does not drag or is slow at times by any means. The action kicks off in the first 5 minutes and comes back before you even realize it!

The acting was great! No doubts there from the previous films. Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark killed it again. Tom Hiddleston as Loki was even more menacing in this film up until a specific moment, which in my opinion, was the best part of the film. The remaining cast of Chris Evans as Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury were superb. I really don't see the fuss about Mark Ruffalo taking over for Edward Norton, I thought he did a fantastic job. The supporting cast of Clark Gregg, Stellan Skarsgard and the lovely Cobie Smulders were great in their roles as well.

Really the only other thing I can say about this movie is...GO SEE IT! This movie will make a boat load of cash. It took in a midnight take of 18.7 million dollars, a superhero movie record, surpassing The Dark Knight.

Tard, JoBo and myself have weekend box office predictions. They are as follows:

Tai's weekend prediction: 140 million
Tard's weekend prediction: 117 million
JoBo's weekend prediction: 123 million

Are you gonna see it this weekend? How much do you think The Avengers will rake in this weekend?
