Mardi Gras Shooting Injures 6 in Lafayette
Details are still unclear at this time exactly what happened in the wee small hours of Mardi Gras at a Lafayette banquet hall. What we do know is that Lafayette Police were called to the scene in the 200 block of St. Antoine in response to a report of a weapon being discharged inside the facility.
When LPD units arrived on the scene they discovered six people who had been injured in some form or fashion as a result of a gunshot. However, it doesn't appear that none of the victims was actually shot. Instead, it appears as if the injuries, as reported so far, may have come from fragments of a discharged projectile.
All of the injured were reported to have non-life-threatening injuries. They were either treated at the scene or transported to a local hospital where they were treated and released. No arrests have been in connection with the case and the investigation is ongoing.
