NEW LLANO, La. (AP) — A Vernon Parish man is jailed on murder charges after authorities found the bodies of his missing fiancée and her nine-year-old son.

Sheriff Sam Craft says the body of Misty Marshall was found Thursday in a wooded area near New Llano, while the body of her son, Day-Min, was found near Marshall's residence.

Investigators didn't say what caused the deaths.

Deputies arrested Matthew Dotson and charged him Friday with one count of first degree murder. A judge set $2 million bail and he remains jailed.

Family members reported Marshall and her three children missing on Dec. 4, saying they hadn't seen them since before Thanksgiving.

Deputies later located alive both 14-year-old Jasmine Moses and 2-year-old Zinlee Dotson.

Craft says he believes the mother and son were killed in late November.
