Later this evening when the official clock for the College Football National Championship Game has reached 00:00 a collegiate football champion will be crowned. Almost immediately after that final whistle blows fans of either LSU or Clemson will be clamoring for officially licensed gear to celebrate.

But wait, the game doesn't kick off until after 7 pm tonight. Chances are it will take three hours or more to play. How's a self-respecting LSU Tiger fan supposed to find championship gear at that late hour? (We are just going to assume for the sake of argument that the real Tigers, the LSU ones, will be the winners.)

Thankfully the folks at Academy Sports and Outdoors are quite familiar with providing championship gear to enthusiastic fans. Tonight will be no different. Just like in 2009 when the New Orleans Saints won the Super Bowl Academy Sports and Outdoors will re-open their Lafayette locations. In fact, the chain plans to open all of their Louisiana locations, should LSU win, immediately after the game is over.

Fans can expect to find championship gear that will include t-shirts, hats, collectibles, and other memorabilia. However, store managers with Academy say you will probably want to pack your patience if you plan on shopping tonight.

They anticipate a large crowd of fans and because of the uniqueness of the event patrons might be asked to wait outside in line as store officials work to maintain crowd control. There are two locations of Academy Sports and Outdoors in Lafayette. One is on Ambassador Caffery near Settlers Trace. The other is on Louisiana Avenue near the interchange with I-10.
