People in 11 parishes hit hardest by the August floods are eligible for another round of federal food stamp aid.

The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services announced on Monday the second month of Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits, also known as D-SNAP.

Eligible parishes include: Acadia, Ascension, East Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Livingston, St. Helena, St. Landry, St. Martin, Tangipahoa, Vermilion and West Feliciana.

Nearly 106,000 households will benefit from this extra $42 million in D-SNAP aid.

Those approved for D-SNAP back in August will automatically have the funds loaded to their debit-like card they received. To replace a lost card, they'll have to visit a social services office.

And people who receive regular food stamps in those 11 parishes will be given more money, unless they are maxed out on their benefits.
