Louisiana Tax Filing Deadline Pushed Back to Friday
A computer glitch has given last-minute Louisiana taxpayers a brief reprieve from getting their tax obligations filed. You might recall because of the coronavirus pandemic the usual tax filing deadlines had been pushed back to July 15th which was yesterday.
However, the Louisiana Department of Revenue says issues with computer filing yesterday prevented many from getting their taxes filed. Therefore, a decision was made to offer an extension until Friday.
The Louisiana Department of Revenue blames the problems on a connectivity issue. It's the same issue that crashed the Frontline Workers Hazard Pay Application site. That connectivity issue has since been rectified and the application process should be able to proceed smoothly. So should the tax filing website for business and personal returns.
So, if you or your tax preparation specialist was unable to complete the filing process yesterday. They should be able to accomplish that action today or Friday and there should be no penalties assessed to you.
